Hello there, everybody!
It is Saturday, October 1st, 2016, and I've begun what is now my second blog in the hopes of continually keeping up my writing. I've just been accepted into the Second City Conservatory in Chicago, which eventually becomes writing intensive. Eventually is the key word.
I also wanted to share things that inspire me here throughout the process of going through the program. The title is taken from MAN OF STEEL (2013), and the scene in particular where Superman informs Lois Lane that his seeming ironic 'S' is not an 'S.' It is a Kryptonian symbol for 'Hope.' The movie has held a special significance for me over these past few years, as it was one that I looked to time and again while going through personal hard times. Beginning in the spring of 2014, it largely inspired me to begin my weight loss journey, which has seen me lose around 75 pounds as of my typing this post. The blog title, most generally, represents, to me, what is inherent in all of us - we all carry an 'S'-like symbol, representing good and wellness. It may fade over time - which is an inherently human sensation. However, I don't believe that means it is gone. I believe it to be spiritually tattooed within each and every one of us, and we cannot lose it. It is, and will always be, there.
I lived in Los Angeles this past year, working as a writer for an amazing website and performing when I could. And, while there was plenty that was going right - my steady job, my support from my family in Chicago, and a litany of amazing people I was able to meet while there - something was missing. It just didn't feel right being there, and I've come to accept that as just part of the process of living a recently post-graduated lifestyle. I do not regret my decision to move in the slightest, and now have a working knowledge of the city should I ever choose to or be called to move back. I would have wondered last year, and now: I no longer have that anxiety. So, I moved back to Chicago in mid-August, and with my acceptance into Second City, my move has taken on another layer of feeling right.
Pardon the brevity of this first post, and going forward, I don't anticipate them to be this short. But they might be! WHO knows! (The Shadow knows!)
I'll be sharing whatever it is inspires me, which I am anticipating will include movies and comedy, and thoughts on each. Feel free to comment, too, and I would love to have any and all discussions that come this way.
I hope you're well!
